Good morning!Happy Tuesday, y’ll. I’m recovering from a 25-hour trip home from Italy, a dead car, a new car, a 12-hour trip to get kids from camp, and the laundry piled high to the ceiling. And now it’s August. I dread August. But this year, I have a book launching this month. Although Amazon has released the book two months early (killing me), in my mind, this is still her month. We will be at the beach, which is fitting, and I’m hoping to relax and put the computer away. So before I go, I wanted to send a quick reminder to place orders if you haven’t, and if you have, to please leave a review. It is so so helpful to me! In discussion with my writing group this week, we landed directly on my insecurities about my books — the weightier subjects they address — and I admitted that if I had my way, I’d market them to adults and children alike. I love reading books with my kids that also speak to me in some way. But I also admitted that I still — still! — cannot get excited about marketing them. To that end, one of them asked me to consider what the point of all of this is. Is publishing alone the point? The answer is, of course, no. For me, the point is to help children and families not feel alone through the art of storytelling. So maybe you have a child with a watchful eye, or one who lives in the uneasy land of what if. Or maybe you are a parent who needs a gentle reminder to let go. This book is for all of us who live and love like that. I have grand plans for a Little Free Library drop this week if I can get my act together, so cross your fingers for me! Something to celebrate the work we’ve done, and to spread the love in our own small way. Xx, Lauren
